If you want your slippers to remain timeless and sparkling, you need to start caring from them as soon as they arrive. A simple and regular care regime will keep your slippers looking great and loved!

At Pop at Porto, we went straight to experts to get their secrets; so that you too at home can make sure your slippers stay looking their best.

Tips straight from the Gorale….

  • Brush the outer wool with a soft haired brush - With time the structure of the wool on the outside will alter. Use a soft haired brush to comb through and untangle any bobbly bits. You should avoid brushing any of the embroidery or suede/leather surfaces as this could damage the design.

  • Never put your slippers in the washing machine - Our slippers are never allowed the washing machine! If you determined to wash your slippers, please only hand wash them in cold water and without any harsh detergents. If you are considering using some form of cleaning products, we recommend you use delicate soap flakes, or natural un-fragranced, uncoloured soap. Once you have sponged your slippers down, and washed the soles of the slippers with a shoe brush, we recommend drying your slippers outside, and avoiding any direct sunlight.

  • Ventilate your slippers – Its no secret that sheepskin is a natural material, and as result it will absorb smells. Ensure you let your slippers breathe and air to limit the nasty odours. Leave the outdoors for a few hours every once in while, ideally on a day that is nice and dry.

  • Maintain with suede spray - To protect your slippers and repel dirt and water, use a suede spray on the non woollen areas of your slippers. We recommend sealing your slippers with a suede spray just after you have washed and dried your slippers. This will help your slippers maintain shape, and looks. Regular maintenance with suede spray will ensure your slippers last a life time!

With Love,
